MyProject 2.0 is a significant upgrade of MyProject 1.0, containing a broader suite of options relating to the application of resource rent taxation to mining operations.

These extended options correspond to analyses included in Wayne Mayo's book Taxing Resource Rent: concepts, misconceptions and practical design, enabling users of MyProject 2.0 to replicate the tables in that book. MyProject 2.0 facilitates that replication by providing stored examples and accompanying guides dealing with issues like the following relating to cash flow royalties (the links in the associated guides are not active):

(a) delayed full loss offset - see stored example's final output in sequence in associated guide;
(b) interaction with income taxation - see stored example's final output in associated guide sequence;
(c) alternative treatment of state royalties - see penultimate output in associated guide sequence;
(d) taxing point upstream of pricing point - see initial output in associated guide sequence; and
(e) application to existing projects - see penultimate output in associated guide sequence.

Following are the steps involved in downloading, installing and running MyProject 2.0 for free:

  1. Click on the 'My Project' image below to download the MyProject installation file ('MyProject2.0.msi'), go to where you saved the file on your computer and double-click 'MyProject2.0.msi' and follow the installation instructions. During installation, a MyProject icon will appear on your computer's desktop. Double-click the icon to run MyProject.
    When you first run MyProject you will asked to accept the MyProject licence agreement. You should view the licence agreement and confirm that you will accept it before clicking the 'MyProject' image below.
  2. To run MyProject, you will need to have Microsoft® .NET Framework 1.1 installed in your computer. While Microsoft® no longer provides support for .NET Framework 1.1, this software has been used with MyProject software since its inception in the various Microsoft® Windows operating systems available since then. Following is the installation sequence for .NET Framework 1.1:
    When you first try to install MyProject by double-clicking on the downloaded 'MyProject2.0.msi' file (or when you first try to run MyProject) you will be told if you need to install the .NET framework 1.1. If you are told this, select 'No'.
    Then, click on this link to immediately Download .NET Framework 1.1 (23.7 Mb) and install by double clicking the downloaded 'dotnetfx.exe' file.
    With Windows 10 or Windows 11 operating systems, should a dialog box appear during the install saying "Objects\..\..\crystalreportviewers12\..\PrintControl.dll failed to register", simply click 'Continue'.
    Finally, restart your computer.

MyProject is free. The Brief User's Guide summarises the main sequence of use of the software.

You should view the licence agreement you will asked to accept when you first run MyProject and confirm that you will accept it before clicking the 'MyProject' image below to start the download and installation process.

   

Fast broadband is recommended for the download (50.4 Mb).

To reiterate, once you have downloaded the 'MyProject2.0.msi' file, go to where you stored the file on your computer and double-click 'MyProject2.0.msi' and follow the installation instructions. During installation, a MyProject icon will appear on your computer's desktop. Double-click the icon to run MyProject.
